About Me

Meet Mrs. Pruitt

Mrs. Pruitt attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she received her undergraduate degree in History. In addition, she completed a master’s degree in educational administration, a master’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Secondary Education. She is a well-established educator with over 30 years of experience and is a certified special education teacher, a certified social studies and history teacher. She founded the Christian Academy Day School and Learning Center after many years as a teacher and staff trainer. The school and learning center were in operation for over 15 years in total. She reopened the learning center under EY (Empowering Youth) Learning Center in 2025. She has also served as an administrator in schools in the public and private sectors. Teaching is a passion for Mrs. Pruitt. She loves to sing and enjoys life to the fullest.

As schools are charged with the insurmountable task of preparing a prepared workforce, she has developed a philosophy that she incorporates in her daily life as an educator. She says, “I want young people to be able to say that I had an impact on their life by giving them tools to navigate through their life once they are no longer in school. I want to be the educator that they remember never giving up on them and believing that they can succeed.”

She believes:

  • Schools prepare students to function in a multi-faceted, computer driven society.
  • School and family should participate in the educational and moral molding of our children.
  • Basic skills in communication arts, the social sciences, math and science must be stressed at an early level and build to higher levels throughout the educational experience.
  • Opportunities for enrichment in art, music and other ancillary areas are also essential for the development of our children.
  • Small classes and group interaction are crucial to gain higher student achievement. There is also a place for one-to-one instruction to foster success.
  • Each child is an individual and has specific needs and learning styles.
  • A child needs direction and love to reach his potential.
  • Strategies must be taught to help children deal with life's pressures.
  • The classroom is the perfect setting to learn social skills that are essential for survival in society.
  • Communication skills should be infused in all areas of education.
  • Teachers are facilitators of learning and life skills.
  • Positive relationships between students and teachers are essential for learning to take place.
